In 1960, we began a chapter in our history that would last for 63 years! We were the first fire department to receive a brand-new type of vehicle—the Snorkel. Over the years, we had several of these units that not only served the residents of Bedford Park but also helped neighboring departments. Earlier this week, Truck “Snorkel†705 was officially retired and is now on a long journey—over 5,000 miles—toward Ukraine. There, it will take on an important new mission that extends far beyond our community. We hope you continue to protect the people of Ukraine as you have done for us over the past six decades. Thank you for the memories and the service.
