A tractor-trailer collided with a dump truck this morning on Route 22 in Long Grove, resulting in a fatal accident. According to the Lake County News Sun, a man was killed after the semi he was driving veered into the opposite lane and struck a dump truck around 8 a.m. The incident occurred near Krueger Road as the 2005 semi was traveling eastbound.
Sgt. Sara Balmes of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that the dump truck attempted to avoid the collision, but both vehicles ended up on the roadside shoulder. The driver of the semi was trapped inside the cab for approximately 30 minutes before being rescued by emergency responders. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The dump truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.
