Lake County Indiana Snorkel History

Here's a post from Wayne Stuart for #TBT:

Lake County, Indiana fire departments were once home to several Snorkel aerial ladders over the years. Gary Fire Department had two units in service at different times, with one coming from South Holland. The Griffith unit was sourced from New Albany, Indiana, while the Mattoon ALF served in both St. John and Shelby, Indiana. Hammond Fire Department operated two Snorkel companies simultaneously—Snorkel 1 and Snorkel 2. Munster, located in Lake County, is part of Division 24 in Mabas. The Crown Point unit originally came from Snohomish County, Washington, where it was purchased as a demo model.
