Kumho Petrochemical invests heavily in new Lishui Petrochemical project

South Korea's Kumho Petrochemical Company recently announced plans to invest a total of 880 billion won (approximately US$837 million) in the construction of multiple petrochemical plants in Lishui, South Korea before 2014.


Kumho Petrochemical will build a 60,000-ton/year solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber plant in Lishui before 2014; its subsidiary, Kumho Polychem will build a new 60,000-ton/year EPDM plant; P&B Chemical will build a new 150,000-ton/year bisphenol A plant; Kumho Mitsui Chemicals will build a new 50,000-ton/year diphenylmethane diisocyanate plant. Kumho Petrochemical Company has signed an agreement with the mayor of Lishui City for the construction of the above projects.


Previously, Kumho Petrochemical announced that second-quarter net profit reached 178.3 billion won, which was more than three times that of the same period of last year, which was mainly due to strong demand for synthetic rubber and Other petrochemical products.
