Here are some photos I captured today, April 9th, 2014, of a significant grass fire that occurred in Grayslake, near Route 60 and Behm Lane. The fire covered a large area and required multiple fire departments to respond. It took over an hour and a half to fully put out the flames and clear the scene. I also have a photo of Mundelein Ambulance 431 at Grayslake’s Station #3 during a change of shift, which was just across the street from the fire.
These images truly show the intensity of the situation and the effort it took to control the blaze. You can see the thick smoke, the fire engines on the scene, and the emergency vehicles working together to manage the incident. I believe these photos give a good sense of what the event looked like in real time.
