US Application for Anti-dumping Investigation of Graphite Electrode in China

According to news from the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, US SLG Carbon and Superior Graphite Corporation recently filed an application with the US Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission requesting an anti-dumping investigation against graphite electrodes from China. There are 31 companies involved in the case in China and the total amount involved 35 million US dollars.
According to the Department of World Trade Organization of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, the products involved in the investigation were small-diameter graphite electrodes with a diameter of 400 mm or less. All companies that had exported products to the United States during the investigation period were involved in the case. According to customs statistics, Tongxiang Arts & Crafts Co., Ltd. in Hunan Province exported US products worth US$1.4 million in 2006 and was listed as a company involved.
According to reports, according to the US anti-dumping investigation procedure, companies must answer the US DOC and ITC questionnaires in a short period of time. If companies do not respond actively, they will lose the US market and cause losses to the company. According to briefings, after the U.S. company’s application is filed, the U.S. Department of Commerce will first examine whether it meets the conditions for filing the case and the result will be announced after 3 weeks. It is reported that the Chinese Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electrical Products will meet in recent days.
