According to Zhao Jingguang, Secretary-General of Beijing New Energy Automobile Industry Alliance, Beijing New Energy Vehicle Design and Engineering Center is the second research institute of Futian Automobile that broke ground in October 2008 after it was put into use in the first phase of the Engineering Research Institute building in January 2007. The project will cover an area of ​​about 25,000 square meters and a total investment of more than 144 million yuan.

At present, the research and development capabilities of the Beijing New Energy Automotive Design and Manufacturing Industry Base have covered the Beijing New Energy Vehicle Design and Engineering Center, the Key Laboratory of Energy Saving and Emission Reduction, and the Green Energy Pilot Plant and other professional R&D and design centers to meet the needs of green energy vehicles in R&D, The needs of design, trial production, and manufacturing stages are currently the largest green energy R&D center in China.
In terms of production capacity, Beijing New Energy Automotive Design and Manufacturing Industry Base has five major engine manufacturing processes including chassis manufacturing, body manufacturing, electrophoretic painting, assembly and testing, and five major passenger car manufacturing processes and machining, and ATPU.
