According to Reuters, the U.S. Department of Energy recently stated that it will provide a $2 million grant to Eaton , a parts supplier. Eaton will launch a three-year project to explore ways to improve fuel cell performance and reduce fuel cell costs.
US Energy Secretary Steven Chu said that the promotion of hydrogen and fuel cell technology research and development is one of the important tasks of the US Department of Energy. These new technologies can provide the United States with diversified energy options and reduce dependence on foreign oil resources.
Eaton Group, headquartered in Cleveland, USA, manufactures electrical control systems, automobiles, and truck parts . It will conduct research on fuel cell projects at the Southfield plant in Michigan, USA.
The Eaton spokesman said that the project will start in the second half of this year.
