In the first half of the year, Qilu Petrochemicals accelerated the resolution of production technology challenges and focused on enhancing overall production management. As a result, the ethylene plants maintained a strong performance with high output and stable operations, continuing to lead in the country among similar facilities. According to statistics, during the 156 hours of load shedding, the plant produced 415,500 tons of ethylene, an increase of 7,300 tons compared to the same period last year, setting a new record.
In terms of production management, the Qilu Petrochemical Olefin Plant integrated technological innovation with real-time equipment operation to address production issues and continuously improve device capacity. In mid-February, the GB201 cracked gas compressor in the ethylene unit was not meeting its design specifications. Through scientific online optimization, the compressor speed was increased by 230 rpm, raising ethylene production from 96 tons per hour to approximately 100 tons. This breakthrough eliminated a major bottleneck that had been limiting high-load production. The results were impressive, with 73,693 tons of ethylene produced in March, breaking the previous record.
During the load shedding period, the plant ensured safe and stable production at around 60 tons per hour while implementing bold innovations. They replaced the desiccant in the FA-209 cracker gas dryer, using it as a key control point for scheduling construction. By adopting a new desiccant unloading method and performing off-site loading, they completed the task in 24 hours without interruption, reducing downtime by 36 hours. Additionally, they experimented with using methane gas instead of nitrogen for drying critical equipment, further optimizing the process and shortening the time required.
At the same time, the plant enhanced the refined management of production sites by introducing more advanced electronic patrol inspections across five workshops, including the ethylene area. These improvements significantly boosted the quality of equipment inspections, effectively covering every corner of the production site like a well-knitted safety net. This meticulous approach provided solid support for maintaining high and stable production levels across the ethylene and other units.
