Notes on Using Linear Guides:​

1. Prevent rusting​

When taking linear guides directly with hands, it is necessary to thoroughly wash off sweat from hands and apply high-quality mineral oil before operation. Special attention should be paid to rust prevention during the rainy season and summer.​

2. Maintain a clean environment​

Keep linear guides and their surrounding environment clean. Even tiny invisible dust entering the guides can increase wear, vibration, and noise of the guides.​

3. Installation with care​

Linear guides must be installed carefully. Strong stamping is not allowed, direct hammering on the guides is prohibited, and it is forbidden to transmit pressure through rolling elements.​

4. Use appropriate installation tools​

For linear guides, use suitable and accurate installation tools. It is advisable to use special tools as much as possible, and strictly avoid using items such as cloth and short fibers.

 

Installation Methods of Linear Guides​

I. Mounting via the Datum Plane​

Start by using assembly screws to loosely secure the linear guide’s bottom datum plane to the bed’s bottom mounting surface. Next, clamp the slide rail’s side datum plane against the bed’s side mounting surface with a vice to set the rail’s position. After that, use a torque wrench to tighten the fixing screws in order, applying a specified torque to ensure the rail’s bottom datum plane sits firmly against the bed’s bottom mounting surface.​

II. Installing the Driven Side Linear Guide​

1. Linear Gauge Method​

Set the linear gauge between the two linear guides. Use a dial indicator to align the gauge so it runs parallel to the reference side rail’s side datum plane. Then, use this gauge to align the driven side rail. Begin alignment from one end of the driven rail and tighten the assembly screws in sequence with the specified torque.​

2. Moving Platform Method​

Secure the two reference side sliders to a measuring platform, leaving just one slider on the driven side. At this point, neither the rail nor the slider should be fixed to the bed or platform. Attach a dial indicator to the top of the driven side slider and use it to measure the slider’s side datum plane. Start aligning from one end of the driven linear guide, tightening the assembly screws in order with the specified torque as you go.​

3. Reference Side Rail Imitation Method​

Fasten the two reference side rail sliders and one driven side rail slider to the platform. Then, loosely attach the driven side rail and its remaining slider to the bed and platform, respectively. Move the platform while using the reference side rail as a guide. Starting from one end of the rail, check the driven side rail’s rolling resistance as you tighten the assembly screws in sequence with the specified torque.​

4. Special Tool​

Use specialized tools to position the driven side rail, then tighten the assembly screws in sequence with the specified torque.
