Calumet Park house fire, 7-21-14

The Calumet Park Fire Department received a call about a structure on the 12400 block of South Honore around 7:20 PM on Monday evening (July 21, 2014). The first engine and ladder company arrived within two minutes. Upon arrival, firefighters found the residents outside and heavy smoke coming from the front door. They quickly entered the home and located the fire in a back bedroom. Within three minutes of their arrival, the Calumet Fire Department had the fire under control and contained it before it could spread to other rooms or the attic. Additional units from Posen, Midlothian, Merrionette Park, and Riverdale responded with auto-aid.

The quick response time by the Calumet Park Fire Department was crucial in preventing further damage. Residents were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Local media captured several powerful images showing the intensity of the situation, including firefighters entering the home, flames bursting from windows, and water being used to suppress the fire. These photos give a vivid sense of the urgency and professionalism displayed by the responding crews.
