Auto parts companies must hold 3C certification

The reporter learned from the Zhejiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that a wide range of automotive components, including vehicle lamps, rearview mirrors, horns, fuel tanks, and door locks, will soon be subject to mandatory product certification. Starting December 1, 2006, all auto parts listed in the Catalogue of Compulsory Product Certifications must obtain a compulsory product certification certificate and bear the Chinese mandatory product certification mark before they can be manufactured, sold, imported, or used in any commercial activities. Without this certification, these products will not be allowed on the market. It has been reported that although the official implementation date is only five months away, many companies in the province are still moving at a slow pace in applying for the 3C certification. Some businesses are considering submitting their applications just before the deadline, which could lead to significant delays and backlogs in the final stages of certification. If any issues arise during the process, it could disrupt the normal operations of the companies involved and even affect the entire automobile industry supply chain in the region. Industry experts warn that rushing through the certification process may result in unnecessary risks and compliance problems. It is therefore recommended that companies start preparing early and ensure they meet all the requirements well in advance of the deadline. This proactive approach will help maintain business continuity and avoid potential disruptions in the automotive sector. (Reporter: Hong Guangyu, Hangzhou Daily)
