November 18, 2020 – Beach Park, IL
A homeowner was burning leaves when strong winds blew them onto the deck and against the vinyl siding of their house. When emergency crews arrived, they found a significant fire on the exterior of the home, which had already spread inside and into a detached garage. The incident was escalated to a working fire, then upgraded to a Box Alarm. Firefighters were unable to make a safe interior attack due to the intensity of the flames. Fortunately, two dogs were reported inside the house and managed to escape unharmed.

The fire caused extensive damage to the property, with the house and garage heavily impacted. Local firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes. Although no injuries were reported, the emotional impact on the homeowner and the community is clear. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with open burning and the importance of fire safety precautions. More photos are available in the gallery below.
