Gary Fire Department update

This message is from Eric Haak:

Several of the Gary Fire Department's stations have recently received new indicator placards as part of their transition to a centralized Lake County dispatch system. The numbers assigned are 86 for Headquarters, 87 for Squad 2, 89 for Engine 4, 96 for Engine 11, 97 for Engine 12, and 98 for Engine 13. As of November 7th, the other active stations didn’t have these signs, and I’m not sure if they will be getting them in the future. I’ll share photos of those in a separate post. I’m not an expert or someone with inside knowledge—I'm just a regular observer who likes to take pictures and keep track of things. I’m sure there are others who can provide more detailed information about the current assignments and reasons behind them.
One thing I noticed: the Engine 9 seen in the headquarters bay was actually operating as Engine 1 on Saturday, November 7th, just in case anyone was wondering. It was a quiet day overall, with a lot of medical calls and no structure fires. A great day to go out and take some photos, so I thought I’d share what I saw. The new signs look clean and professional, and it’s interesting to see how the department is updating its infrastructure with the new dispatch system.
