Chicago firefighters responded to a house fire on Saturday at 10728 South Prairie Avenue. They rescued a 66-year-old woman, but initially could not locate a young boy in the attic. The Chicago Tribune reported:

Firefighters were called to the 1 1/2 story frame home around 10 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming mostly from the basement, according to Fire Department spokesman Kevin MacGregor. The fire was spreading quickly up the inside of the home’s walls, he said.
A boy was found dead in an attic crawlspace several hours after firefighters rescued a woman from a Roseland neighborhood house fire this morning, fire officials said.

The fire that claimed a 7-year-old boy over the weekend also killed his grandmother, who died at a suburban hospital on Sunday afternoon, officials said.
An autopsy was scheduled for this morning for Barbara Scott, who was rescued from the home in the 10700 block of South Prairie Avenue on Saturday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and fire officials.
