Another fire department has been added to the site under MABAS Division 19—the Palos Fire Protection District. This district operates two stations located in Palos Park and has a total of 41 personnel on its roster, including 12 part-time members. They serve an area covering 15 square miles, which includes parts of Palos Park, Palos Heights, Orland Park, and unincorporated sections of Palos Township.
The Palos Fire Protection District is equipped with three E-ONE engines and a 110-foot E-ONE quint for fire suppression. In addition to their firefighting units, they also operate Road Rescue ambulances, a brush rig, and an elliptical tanker provided by 4-Guys. These resources help them respond effectively to a wide range of emergencies across their service area.
Station 2, located at 13010 S. 104th Avenue in Palos Park, is home to the new Hazardous Materials (HazMat) unit that is shared between MABAS Divisions 19 and 22. This unit was previously highlighted in articles here and here. The station itself is a key hub for emergency response and community support.
Several high-quality images of the Palos Fire Protection District have been submitted by local photographers. The engine and tanker photos were taken by Bill Friedrich and Karl Klotz, while Dennis McGuire, Jr. and Larry Shapiro contributed additional visuals. These images offer a glimpse into the daily operations and equipment used by the department.
Whether responding to fires, medical emergencies, or hazardous material incidents, the Palos Fire Protection District plays a vital role in keeping the community safe. Their dedication and well-equipped response teams make them a valuable asset to the region.
