Working fire in Stone Park, 12-1-16

This morning (December 1st, 2016), the Stone Park Fire Department responded to a basement fire at 1538 N. 40th Avenue. According to reports, it was classified as a Working Fire Response involving a two-story, vacant single-family home. Firefighters deployed two lines to combat the blaze. Mutual aid support came from multiple neighboring departments, including a Leyden truck, a Bensenville squad and battalion chief, a Berkeley engine, a Northlake truck, and an ambulance from Melrose Park. Additionally, change of quarters companies dispatched included an ambulance from River Forest and an engine from Norwood Park. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Attached are several photos taken by Steve Redick that capture the aftermath of the incident. The first image shows Stone Park FD Squad 21 on scene, followed by another shot of the same apparatus. The subsequent images depict the extent of damage left behind after the fire was extinguished. A final picture highlights the distinctive decal on Stone Park FD Squad 21, adding a personal touch to the department's equipment. The quick response and coordinated efforts between local and mutual aid agencies were crucial in managing this situation effectively. While the property suffered significant damage, the absence of casualties is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of all involved.
