Bus fire in Northbrook

Yesterday afternoon, I was driving along Lake-Cook Road in Northbrook when something caught my eye—a transit bus from PACE parked near the Metra station appeared to be engulfed in flames. Curious, I decided to follow up and investigate further. As I approached, I could see the unmistakable signs of an active fire incident involving a well-known local bus. That’s when I called in Northbrook Engine 10, which promptly arrived on the scene. I managed to capture some photos of the unfolding event, documenting how firefighters worked diligently to contain the blaze. The fire seemed to have originated in the engine compartment of the bus, causing significant damage to the vehicle. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, which is always a relief in situations like this. One particularly striking image shows a Northbrook lieutenant overseeing his team as they battled the flames in the Metra parking lot. Another photo highlights the resourcefulness of the firefighters who used a nearby hydrant to supplement their water supply, ensuring they had enough resources to fully extinguish the fire. These images provide a vivid glimpse into the coordinated efforts required to handle such incidents. For those interested in seeing more visuals from the scene, you can check out my full gallery [here]. It’s always fascinating to witness how communities come together during emergencies, and today was no exception. The quick response and effective action taken by the Northbrook Fire Department helped prevent what could have been a much larger disaster.
