Sinopec Jingmen Branch has recently launched a clean energy-saving project, featuring a sulfuric acid plant with an annual output of 50,000 tons. This initiative significantly boosts the conversion rate of sulfur in oil refining waste to 99.6%, effectively addressing the environmental issue of acid gas emissions and delivering both economic and social benefits.
Previously, Jingmen Petrochemical used sulfur to treat acid gas, with a designed production capacity of 6,500 tons of sulfur per year. However, the system often operated beyond its capacity, handling up to 7,434 tons annually. Despite this, a significant amount of acid gas was still released through the chimney, leading to resource wastage and environmental pollution.
To turn waste gas into value and improve air quality, Jingmen Petrochemical invested 30 million yuan to construct a new sulfuric acid plant with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons. The plant uses acid gas as its primary raw material. After incineration, purification, washing, and drying, the sulfur is converted into sulfuric acid through a two-stage absorption process, achieving a total absorption rate of 99.99%.
This advanced system not only minimizes environmental impact but also enhances resource efficiency, marking a significant step forward in sustainable industrial development. The project reflects Sinopec's commitment to green technology and long-term ecological responsibility.
