**Dachaidou Izou III Production Line to Go Live** The Dachaidou Izou III production line is set to be launched, marking a significant step in the development of advanced engine technology. FAW Liberation Dalian Diesel Branch showcased two key technologies: the Deutz BF6M1013 Euro III engine using monoblock pump technology (CA6DE3) and the electronically controlled monomer pump technology. The CA6DE3 model, priced at 60,000 yuan, is considered one of the most efficient ways to upgrade from Euro II to Euro III emissions. This innovation was developed in collaboration with the FAW Group’s technical center. Yin Zhanying, deputy general manager of FAW Dachai, mentioned that following the introduction of German Deutz technology, the German side has actively pushed for joint ventures and increased investment. Negotiations are ongoing, and it's expected that by the end of this month, Dachai’s Euro III engine production line will be fully operational, with an annual capacity of 50,000 units. Additionally, Dachai’s self-developed products, such as the "Dawei" series under Damai, have gained strong market acceptance. In product development, Dachai now uses a project manager system where project managers compete within the factory. By implementing simultaneous engineering and cross-project teamwork, departments collaborate closely from design to production, significantly improving efficiency. Dachai’s natural gas engines are primarily used in the resource-rich southwest region, with over 30 buses currently operating there. The 180–230 hp Euro II natural gas engine is priced around 70,000 yuan. With more than 280 refueling stations in Sichuan and Yunnan, the cost of operation is relatively low. **Dongfeng Chaochai Launches First European Type III Light Diesel Engine** Dongfeng Chaochai exhibited several new Euro III products, including the CY4B39Tie engine, jointly developed with AVL. This engine features Euro III emissions and can be upgraded to Euro IV. Zhang Guijun, responsible for publicity at Dongfeng Chaochai, noted that the CY4B39Tie achieved a noise level of 89.7 dB during recent AVL tests, placing it among the best globally. Priced at about 40,000 yuan, it serves as a prototype for JAC 1063 series vehicles. Chaochai has also introduced the QD32 Wild Wind Series, featuring vortex chamber combustion technology, meeting both Euro II and Euro III standards. It is the first domestic model to reach Euro III emissions for light diesel engines. Currently, it supplies Aolong and Zhengzhou Nissan pickup trucks, with monthly sales of 1,500 units. Beijing Jeep’s Warrior military vehicles and Great Wall and ZTE city SUVs are also testing these engines. North Korea is developing a new generation of QD32 engines, aiming to reduce displacement to 2.9L from the current 3.2L. Chaochai’s light diesel engines are positioned as high-end four-cylinder models, priced 1.2 to 1.5 times higher than standard engines. Additionally, the DFF-4485 diesel engine targets the low-end market, such as mini trucks. In response to China’s “socialist new countryside” policy, agricultural vehicles are shifting toward economical light trucks, and 4F is preparing for this segment. At the exhibition, the reporter also saw rare diesel cylinder products from Chaochao, including the 6D series, developed from the 4D series with a 7.8L displacement. As a subsidiary of Dongfeng Absolute Holdings, Dongfeng accounts for 25% of Chaochai’s sales. JAC is its largest customer, mainly supplying light truck power, accounting for over 30% of Chaochai’s business. Chaochai has been focusing on independent development, achieving impressive results in the medium and light diesel engine market. Through brand positioning and service excellence, it has established 257 offices across China, providing training and technical support to users. **Weichai Lanqing Series High-Powered Engine at 100,000 Yuan** According to Ma Shuliang, assistant to the general manager of Weichai Power Truck Power Sales Co., Ltd., Beijing was the first to implement Euro III emission standards. Weichai Blue Engines WP10 and WP12, offering 270–440 horsepower, are being adapted for Futian Auman and expected to go into mass production in May. Weichai aims to keep 300-horsepower Euro III engines below 100,000 yuan. Fuel consumption of the WP12 is as low as 181g/kW·h. Wang Haiyun, director of Weichai’s Beijing office, noted that the 375-horsepower engine pulls 40 tons and consumes about 43L per 100km, with potential for a 10% reduction after calibration. Weichai has a long-term partnership with Jinan Public Transport, which has adopted 500 Euro II engines. This year, Jinan will continue to use Weichai engines extensively, with 4 Euro III units expected to be on the line by May. **Xichai Euro III Enters Shenzhen and Shanghai** Wu Shugang, director of marketing planning at FAW Jiefang Wuxi Diesel Engine Sales Co., Ltd., stated that nine Aowei Euro III engines equipped on heavy trucks were delivered to Beijing in March. Featuring a 7.7L displacement and 350 hp, the Aowei III engine uses mature common rail technology, reaching leading domestic standards in performance and cost-effectiveness. Xichai is currently developing 11L heavy-duty engines with 380–420 hp, launching Euro II models ahead of schedule and planning Euro IV machines by year-end. Externally, Xichai has supplied 120 Euro III engines to Shenzhen Zhongnan Bus and 4 to Shanghai buses. It is also applying to enter the Beijing Euro III engine market, demonstrating the CA4DL four-valve four-cylinder Euro III series, mainly for bus applications. **Yuchai Supplies 200 Euro IV Engines to Beijing Buses** Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. attracted attention with its YC6L Euro IV and YC4W Euro IV diesel engines, as the first domestic company to launch Euro IV engines. Yuchai plans to provide 200 Euro IV engines to Beijing this year, operating on dedicated lines. Li Heping, deputy general manager of Yuchai, emphasized that the company focuses on product advantages and targeted market needs. For mining engineering vehicles, Yuchai’s engines offer high low-speed torque and improved efficiency, making them popular with users. Yuchai’s 6L engine is installed in 2,000 EQ3243 trucks this year, with a target of 10,000 units. In tractor power, Yuchai promotes through JAC Geerfa and Hongyan, using imported pumps in coastal areas and domestic pumps in mainland regions like Shanxi. Yuchai sees itself as a supporting enterprise, with major manufacturers like Dongfeng and FAW opening their markets. As the open market expands, Yuchai gains more opportunities. Li Heping believes the mainstream market for heavy trucks and buses will remain in the 10-liter range, with limited demand for 12-liter engines. **Changfa Agricultural Machinery Exports to Global Markets** Among top single-cylinder companies, Changzhou has two: Changfa and Changchai. While Changchai is a state-owned listed company, Changfa is a private enterprise. Li Wunan, director of Changfa Marketing Co., Ltd., highlighted the company’s mission to improve farmers’ quality of life worldwide. Changfa supports domestic companies like Shandong Wucheng and Luoyang Yidun. Its agricultural machinery is exported to Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, with exports accounting for 18% of annual sales. Li emphasized that quality and technical content, not just price, are key to entering international markets. Changfa’s new diesel engines meet Euro II standards and save 30% fuel compared to similar models. Portable generator sets, weighing only 15kg, are ideal for remote and extreme environments. In the 8 million annual agricultural machine market, Changfa has sold about 1 million units, with nearly 2 billion yuan in internal combustion engine revenue in 2005. The Changfa Industrial Park covers 800 mu, producing agricultural equipment, including single-cylinder and multi-cylinder engines, tractors, air-cooled machines, and generators. Changfa has established a 24-hour toll-free service hotline, with nearly 3,000 sales outlets and over 400 field service personnel nationwide. Meanwhile, Changchai has entered the automotive engine market, with its Euro II engines used in over 50 SUV models. Its engines are priced lower than competitors due to cost control. Changchai has also passed EPA and EU certifications, exporting farm tractors, generators, and construction machinery to developed countries.
