Provide efficient separation equipment for users - Interview with Ye Ding, Deputy General Manager of Zhejiang Light Engine

Zhejiang Light Industry Co., Ltd. has built a strong reputation in the chloroacetic acid industry with its P series double-stage pusher centrifuges, which are highly valued for their excellent separation performance and low moisture content. Recently, during the China Chloroacetic Acid Product Technology and Market Seminar in Hangzhou, the reporter had an interview with Ye Ding, Deputy General Manager of Zhejiang Qingji Industry Co., Ltd. According to Ye Ding, the P series centrifuges are primarily used for solid-liquid separation. They were developed using patented technology from Swiss Sulzer Ethewes and are considered among the most advanced pusher centrifuges globally. Over the past 20 years, Zhejiang Light Machinery has continuously invested in R&D, maintaining a leading position domestically. For instance, the company implemented a titanium tube method at the feed shaft to prevent corrosion when seals fail. The new feed system not only increases the feeding speed but also reduces the speed difference between the material and the screen, minimizing particle damage and improving separation efficiency. Additionally, the air flow solids collection device reduces particle breakage caused by high-speed discharge, while the annular fluidized bed significantly lowers residual moisture, enhancing product quality. The P series centrifuges offer high separation efficiency and large production capacity, making them hard to replace in the domestic market. For example, the P-500 model has four times the capacity of the WH-800 model of similar power. A 15,000-ton-per-year chloroacetic acid line can be equipped with just one P-500 unit. The P-500 also excels in moisture control—when used for salt separation, it achieves a moisture content of only 1.9%, reducing energy consumption in drying processes. Moreover, over 80% of the mother liquor is separated on the first stage, cutting power consumption per ton from 7.5 kWh (WH-800) to 3.5 kWh (P-500). Currently, the P series includes four models: P-40, P-500, P-60, and P-85, suitable for various production scales—from pilot projects to large-scale operations up to 1 million tons. Beyond chloroacetic acid, these centrifuges are widely used in vacuum salting, mirabilite extraction, ammonium chloride separation, ammonium sulfate dehydration, salt and alkali separation, potassium chloride processing, nitrocellulose denitrification, and lysine extraction. The equipment is now adopted by major domestic companies such as Shuanghuan Technology, Juhua Group, Salt Lake Potash, and Chongqing Tianyuan, and has also been exported to countries like Malaysia, South Korea, Egypt, and Jordan.

Further considerations

PMMA is an economical alternative to Polycarbonate (PC) when extreme strength is not necessary. Common trade names of Acrylic include Plexiglas, Lucite and Perspex. Large and difficult parts can be easily glued.

Surface Finish

Bead blasting

Polishing

Polishing is the process of creating a smooth and shiny surface, either through physical rubbing of the part or by chemical interference. The process produces a surface with significant specular reflection, but in some materials is able to reduce diffuse reflection.

Wall Thickness

- The minimum wall thickness should be at least 1 mm for machined parts. - 2 mm is suggested for better strength and 2.5 mm for a rigid wall.

Pocket depth

- Pocket depth should be up to 3 times the diameter of the end mill

Engraving

- Engraving is preferable to embossing - For the clear, legible text consider fonts such as Arial or Gothic - Design letter strands with a width of at least 2 mm

Internal Radii

- The minimum internal radii possible is 1 mm - In general, internal radii dimensions depend on the depth of pocket being milled

Holes

- Use standard drill bit sizes - Minimum of 1 mm in diameter

Threads

- Use standard metric inserts - Smallest threaded insert possible is M2
