This morning, I had the chance to witness something truly interesting. Karl Klotz and Tim Olk were there as Glenn Bennett, Jr. dropped by Engine 8's station in Chinatown. He was en route to Seagrave with an iconic fire engine that had been featured on the popular TV series *Rescue Me*. After posing for some pictures in front of the station, the rig made another pitstop in Northfield before heading further north to Clintonville. This particular engine has already made its mark onscreen and is now being prepared for sale to another fire department.
I snapped a few shots of the rig while it was parked in front of Engine 8's station, and you can see how it fits perfectly with the older FDNY specifications. It’s fascinating to think about all the scenes it must have been part of during its time on the show. The engine even sports a unique "Hell on Wheels" decal on its cab, featuring a fiery depiction of Ladder 62 with what looks like a sultry female devil. It’s these little details that make the vehicle stand out even more.
The engine's journey today seems almost symbolic, moving from the limelight of television to perhaps finding a new home where it can continue serving its purpose. It’s not every day you get to see history in motion, and this engine certainly qualifies as such. I’m glad I could capture these moments and share them with others who appreciate the blend of pop culture and firefighting heritage.
