In contrast, a diesel forklift using 40 liters of fuel per shift (at 4.9 yuan per liter) would cost around 196 yuan. This means a daily saving of 56 yuan, or 14,000 yuan annually, and over five years, this could amount to 70,000 yuan in energy savings. Electric forklifts also offer better ergonomics and ease of operation. Their electrical control systems for steering, acceleration, hydraulics, and braking make them easier to handle, reducing operator fatigue and improving efficiency and accuracy. Maintenance is simpler too—electric forklifts typically require maintenance every 1,000 hours, compared to just 500 hours for internal combustion models. Routine tasks involve lubricating moving parts, replacing hydraulic oil, and checking filters, which are far less frequent and complex than the engine-related maintenance needed for diesel forklifts. Additionally, the downtime associated with maintenance is much shorter for electric forklifts, leading to greater productivity and reduced labor costs. Battery life, which lasts approximately 1,500 charge cycles (about 10,000 working hours), is comparable to the lifespan of an internal combustion engine. Replacing a battery is faster and more efficient than overhauling an engine, further enhancing time efficiency. Although the initial investment in an electric forklift is 30% higher than for a comparable internal combustion model, the long-term operational savings are substantial. As more forklifts operate indoors, where emissions and noise are major concerns, electric models become increasingly attractive. In Europe and the U.S., internal combustion forklifts are often banned indoors due to strict regulations. Although China has not yet imposed such strict rules, the environmental and comfort benefits of electric forklifts are becoming widely recognized. Moreover, advancements in electronic control technology have expanded the applications of electric forklifts. Models like electric pallet trucks, stackers, reach trucks, and narrow-aisle forklifts are now commonly used in logistics and warehousing, where internal combustion forklifts struggle to perform. These innovations are driving stronger demand for electric forklifts, and as awareness grows, their market share is expected to rise steadily.
