In 2006, China's general machinery manufacturing industry maintained a high level of performance. According to statistics from 4,074 large-scale enterprises in the sector, from January to November 2006, the total industrial output value reached 204.019 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 26.69%. Among this, the output value of new products was 27.058 billion yuan, rising by 28.39%. The cumulative industrial output value stood at 1,979.69 billion yuan, up 27.73%, while the export delivery value reached 36.403 billion yuan, increasing by 44.46%. Industrial added value amounted to 54.491 billion yuan, with a growth of 23.98%, and realized sales revenue totaled 196.131 billion yuan, an increase of 27.7% compared to the previous year. Total profits and taxes reached 35.701 billion yuan, showing a year-on-year growth of 23.96%.
The government’s emphasis on the localization of major equipment and the favorable market environment have created excellent development opportunities for general machinery manufacturers, significantly contributing to the advancement of domestic equipment production.
A notable breakthrough came in the nuclear power sector, where China successfully developed key valves for nuclear power plants. These valves, previously reliant on imports, were a major bottleneck in the localization of nuclear technology. On March 16, 2006, several critical valves, including the nuclear-level fast-opening isolation valve and the nuclear second-stage fast-opening isolation valve, developed jointly by China Nuclear Sohu Technology Industrial Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute, passed expert evaluation organized by the Science and Technology and International Cooperation Department of China National Nuclear Corporation.
